I agree that public sector leadership is not for everyone. However, I wonder about a collective leadership that is primarily driven by “keeping someone out of the media”. In my opinion this context creates a leadership driven by fear and a workforce that follows in the wake of that fear. I wonder how much time is actually spent on getting the work of government done in an efficient and effective manner versus being preoccupied with optics. Furthermore, what does this preoccupation mean for the need for; more innovation, increased risk taking and bold answers to complex issues facing governments around the world?
