The subject of CEO compensation was part of a course I taught to university students. They were always surprised to compare the salary of our Prime Minister to that of other leaders (or sports celebrities). Often the topic of inherent risk associated with the role came up as a way to justify pay levels. However, value creation is a more tangible, defensible means to assess and validate compensation.
