I love how this prompts me to reflect – when I stepped into my first leadership role, I think I knew I had things to share and that I could teach my team, but I don’t think I thought about the obligations that went along with leadership before I was in the role. However, with each leadership step I made, I think I gained a better understanding of the significant decision I was making and the contract I was accepting. Certainly when I accepted my first executive role and became an officer of the company, I reflected long and hard before making a very conscious decision to accept the weighty obligations of that role.
